8 a.m. – SeaBus departures will increase again

Beginning next week, weekday SeaBus departures will occur every 15 minutes between 7:15 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9:15 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends. A holiday schedule will be in effect on BC Day. Currently 15-minute sailings only occur during weekday rush hours.

TransLink says demand is expected to continue increasing as B.C.’s economy reopens and as British Columbians undertake more travel within the province this summer.

Under its COVID-19 protocols, TransLink says it has set SeaBus maximum capacity to 50 per cent, enhanced cleaning by using a disinfectant fog twice per week in addition to daily cleaning schedules, and posted signage asking customers to keep their physical distance and wash their hands.

12 a.m. –50 new cases, outbreak declared at Burnaby’s Dania Home

B.C. health officials have announced 50 new cases of COVID-19 heading into the August long weekend and declared an outbreak at a long-term care home in Burnaby.

Fraser Health confirmed Friday that a staff member at Burnaby’s Dania Home tested positive for the coronavirus.
