VANCOUVER, B.C.: Tuesday, Sept. 22. The rainy season is upon us, Vancouver.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver due to a series of vigorous frontal systems expected to move across the south coast tonight, bringing with them heavy rain and strong winds.
Metro Vancouver could see between 50 and 100 millilitres of rain between now and Thursday, with the North Shore and Howe Sound receiving the most rain.
The winds should peak Wednesday morning with gusts of up to 70 km/hr.
“The combination of heavy rain with leaves on the ground may lead to localized flooding. Strong winds may also lead to power outages,” Environment Canada said.
The weather agency says it will be the first active storm cycle of the fall season and it’s expected to hang around until Saturday night.
