Vandergrift Area Meals On Wheels seeks volunteers

Vandergrift Area Meals On Wheels is looking for regular and substitute volunteers to help with food cooking, serving, packing and delivery.

The program serves East Vandergrift, Parks Township, Allegheny Township, Hyde Park, West Leechburg and Vandergrift. Drivers with knowledge of these communities are especially needed.

Children’s outdoor program offered at Outdoor Discovery Center

The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will sponsor a free program for early elementary school children, “What Is Nature?” from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the center, 142 Kerr Road, Bethel.

Children will go on a nature scavenger hunt, make bark rubbings and learn why the leaves change color in the fall.

Class size is limited. Children may attend either session. Face masks are required, and social distancing observed.

TryLife Center accepting donations

The TryLife Center in Lower Burrell is accepting donations of gently-used children’s clothing in sizes newborn through 4T, maternity clothes, highchairs, pack n’ plays, walkers and infant seats.

Other items needed include diapers, wipes and bottles. Items that cannot be accepted are toys, books, games, adult clothing, children’s clothing size 5T and larger, used cribs, used car seats and furniture.

Donations should be dropped off from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the red donation door at the center, 1155 Wildlife Lodge Road. Any items left outside of these hours will be exposed to the weather.
