Vancouver Police are investigating a possible road rage incident that happened near East 22nd Avenue and Nanaimo Street on Friday afternoon.
Maggie Ngai said she was driving on East 22nd Avenue when a woman in an SUV turned into her lane, causing Ngai to brake, flash her high beams and shake her head.
A few minutes later, when both vehicles were stopped at a traffic light at Nanaimo and Kingsway, Ngai said the woman jumped out of her SUV and “went ballistic.”
“She was hitting my window and mirror,” said Ngai. “She was banging with both hands and yelling profanity and racial slurs. I was very scared.”
Ngai remained in her car, but recorded part of the interaction. In the video, a person can be heard banging on her car and swearing.
After the incident, Ngai called police. She said she was disappointed when the attending officers asked if she was speeding and told her she drove a fast car. She said they told her to “buff out” several scratches on her car, rather than make a claim with ICBC.
